We are proud to offer the inaugural C.H. Cramer Intern Fellow in the College of Arts and Sciences. The summer funding award of $3,000 will allow an outstanding undergraduate student to pursue an exciting summer work experience of their choice.
The C.H. Cramer award is made possible by an anonymous donor, to honor the legacy of award-winning historian Clarence Henley Cramer (1902 – 1983), who taught History at Western Reserve College and authored eight books, including his beloved history of the Cleveland Public Library, Open Shelves, Open Minds (1972). A rigorous teacher, Cramer inspired his students to write provocatively and speak persuasively.
Cramer also authored the definitive biography of Newton D. Baker, who won the Cleveland mayoral election in 1911, co-founded the storied law firm Baker Hostetler in 1916, and served as the United States’ Secretary of War during the final years of World War I, under President Woodrow Wilson.
Eligibility
The Cramer fellowship is merit-based. Recipients must be a declared undergraduate humanities major at CWRU with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75.
