Fall Funding Opportunities: Application Deadline 24 October 2014

  • Enriching Curriculua Grant — The Center offers support for collaboration among faculty, graduate students, instructors, and instructional technologists to explore and develop resources that support digital humanities instruction and/or student scholarship.
  • Feldman Technology Grant — The Center offers funds in support of the application of digital technology to humanities research and dissemination.
  • Foreign Travel to Conferences Grant — The Center offers a limited number of competitive grants to support travel to conferences. "Conference" is used here to denote scholarly meetings dedicated to advancing knowledge.
  • Graduate Research Grants — Grants are available to graduate students to help defray expenses associated with MA thesis and dissertation research but not covered by departmental funding.
  • Research Working Group Grant — The Center offers support for research and critical inquiry in the humanities through research working groups. These working groups are organized on the semester model, should have a targeted question or theme, and be interdisciplinary in composition.

Spring Funding Opportunities: Application deadline has passed.

  • Theorizing Digital Humanities Grant — The Center offers funds in support for scholarship that examines the philosophical or practical implications of emerging technologies, brings new approaches to traditional disciplines/research questions, or explores and documents best practices.
  • Digital Interfaces Grant — The Center offers funds in support for scholarship that examines digital methodologies that might include alternate reading, future modes of information interface and dissemination, haptics or mobile platforms or digital modes of publication.
  • Preservation & Curation Grant — The Center offers funds in support for scholarship that focus on generating, preserving, analyzing, and making accessible digital resources.
  • Foreign Travel to Conferences — The Center offers competitive Foreign Travel to Conferences Grants of up to $1000 to support travel to Conferences. Conference is used here to denote scholarly meetings dedicated to advancing knowledge.
  • Foreign Travel to Collections — The Center offers competitive Foreign Travel Grants of up to $1000 to support travel to Collections. Collection is used here to denote libraries, museums, and other related holdings of original archival material not available in the United States or via interlibrary loan services or digitization.
  • Research Working Group Grant — The Center offers support for research and critical inquiry in the humanities through research working group seminars. These seminars, to be organized on the semester model, will be composed of faculty and graduate students in the arts and humanities of the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University.

Other Funding Opportunities

  • Event Co-Sponsorships:
    The Baker-Nord Center offers co-sponsorships in support of faculty-initiated campus events that enrich the intellectual life of the University by fostering interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration in the arts and humanities.

    Priority is given to projects that address the Baker-Nord Center's annual theme and cross-disciplinary boundaries and/or partner with other Case Western Reserve University schools, University Circle institutions, and community organizations. In most cases, funding will be limited to $500.

    Please submit your co-sponsorship application at least 10 weeks in advance of the proposed event date. Also, please email a brief biography (no more than one page) for each featured speaker(s) to bakernord@case.edu once the co-sponsorship request has been submitted.
