Faculty Research Travel Grant

Maximum Award: $4,000 

The Center offers a limited number of competitive grants to support travel to conduct research. Examples of supported research activities include, but are not limited to, travel to collections such as libraries, museums or other archives with materials not otherwise available; travel to a conference with direct impact on the applicant’s research; travel to a study center or research institute. Travel should be completed by December 1, 2017.  Applications for travel in spring 2018 will be considered in the next call for proposals in October, 2018.

Eligibility:

Funds are available to full-time faculty in the arts and humanities within the College of Arts and Sciences and full-time SAGES instructors at Case Western Reserve University.

Reporting:

Resulting publications and presentations should acknowledge the support of the Baker-Nord Center. Please submit copies of any acknowledgements.

Funds are available as reimbursement only. Before funds will be released, all awardees must submit a final report (ca. 300 words), which may be published in the Center’s newsletter.

Reimbursement should be processed through the recipient’s home department with the speedtype provided once the final report has been received.

Final reports will be due by 15 December 2017. All reimbursements must be processed by 31 December 2017.

Faculty Travel Grant Cover Sheet

In addition to this cover sheet, complete applications must include:

  1. A brief description of the research project (maximum 1,000 words) that addresses the following points:
    1. overview of the research project.
    2. explanation of the need for travel.
    3. intended outcomes of the research project.
  1. Budget detailing all anticipated expenses and other sources of funding. Please attach to the budget a statement detailing any applications for external grants or fellowships in support of this project, including the name of the granting institution, the amount applied for, and the date by which you will be notified of a decision.
  1. Curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages).
  1. Letter of support from the department chair, which should indicate whether or not departmental or other funds (e.g. start-up funds, research account) are available for this project.
