Humanities@Work: Medicine

StehoscopePanelists discuss how studying the humanities influenced their careers. Panelists include:

Susan Wentz (Michigan ’75) majored in English. She attended a fine arts high school where she studied theater and was a member of two theater company companies during her college years. Her work is in medical education at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, where she directs the Area Health Education Center.

Joseph Borus (Michigan ’90) majored in English and History. He is a pediatrician at Green Road Pediatrics and Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University.

Richard Cartabuke (CWRU ’09) double majored in History and Biology (completing an MA in History his senior year). He is Associate Staff Physician in Internal Medicine, the Director of Recruitment for the Internal Medicine Residency Program (IMRP) and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine (CCLCM).

Zachary Belden (Swarthmore ’12) majored in Philosophy. He is a 3rd-year medical student at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, currently doing a research year in cardiovascular disease immunology. With his family in Maine, he started a chocolate bar company called Chewy Chewy Yum Yums.
